On Saturday, November 17, 2012, Sea-Life Habitat Improvement Project, Inc. (SHIP) will celebrate the 2nd Annual “Sink Our SHIP” party at the Pelican Yacht Club. We expect to attract approximately 150 people who support S.H.I.P. and their mission to deploy a large Navy type vessel as an artificial reef off of the Treasure Coast.
The “Sink Our Ship” party will feature a fine dinner, cash bar, silent auction items and a lot of fun. We will also update everyone on the progress and goals of our project, along with what’s new with our artificial reef and oyster restoration programs. The party goes from 6:00-10:00pm. Tickets are $50 per person.
This project will be a win for our diving, fishing and research communities in addition to providing an economic boost for the entire region. Similar projects in the Florida Keys such as the Spiegel Grove and Vandenberg have proven to be successful for both the marine habitat and the community.
