On September 14th and 15th experts gathered in St. Pete Beach, Florida for the Guy Harvey sponsored inaugural Gulf of Mexico Fisheries Symposium. This two-day conference brought together leading experts in fishing and conservation to hold discussions on the current and future state of the Gulf of Mexico fishery.
Representatives came from all sectors of the marine world and included recreational and commercial fishermen, non-governmental and governmental agencies, politicians, fishing authorities and marine scientists.
The symposium’s mission was to inform and share knowledge between all of the concerned groups so that they can proceed with a unified plan for a sustainable and healthy fishery in the Gulf of Mexico.
In this video scientists attending the symposium went on camera to report their assessment of the current health of the Gulf of Mexico fisheries. Their early findings are bringing good news!
