The latest edition of the NACD Journal is in the mail. It has a memorial to Debra Green and it’s appropriate that my first article and ad is in this issue because Debra was responsible for getting me to volunteer.

I had a great weekend in Cave Country. We did some good dives and had a lot of fun hanging out with friends. I attended the NACD board meeting and it looks like things are happening that will be good for the organization. I’ll get a full report posted in the next couple days.

10/15/12 We received word that a diver was lost in a Merritt’s Mill Pond cave today and made a call to Cave Adventurers to confirm. A diver was indeed lost and Edd Sorensen was called for a search. Edd was able to find the lost diver and bring him out alive very quickly. This makes the 4th successful recovery by Edd this year. Recoveries are very…[Read more]

BTW, Jug bedding plane is sidemount, not backmount, at least it should not be.

Hey, is anyone up for Jug Hole this coming Saturday (10/6)afteroon (around 1 PM) and possibly Peacock on Sun morning. I am Intro and side mount. Will probably go through the bedding plane in Jug but not the diamond sands restriction.

It looks like four or five of us will be diving Peacock this weekend. We’ll use Dive Outpost as sort of a base. May go to Suwannee River Rendezvous Saturday night if they have music. Get in touch if you’re up that way.

There is a real need for a video like ”A Deceptively Easy Way To Die.” Although it’s very good it’s a few years old and a little outdated. Would anybody else be interested in working on making an updated version?

Had some nice dives at Peacock. Viz is still off a little and you can see the effects of the flooding. Water is still over the steps.

It is troubling to hear about the turmoil among the leadership of the NACD. We wish them luck in resolving the conflicts and pledge our support to the organization and all the good work it does.

The announcement on Tuesday that the Florida Park Service will not allow recreational cave diving at Wakulla Spring is disappointing. I thought progress was being made and indications were that it was going to be allowed. My guess is that a LOT of pressure was applied by the WKPP members and others involved in the exploration. From the sounds of…[Read more]
