Diving In And Around The Panhandle

The area known as the “Florida Panhandle” is a diverse region offering a wide range of outdoor recreational opportunities and is a favorite destination for all types of SCUBA divers. The beautiful Gulf Coast offers wrecks, natural and artificial reefs, and interesting shore dives. The aircraft carrier USS Oriskany located offshore Pensacola is currently the largest accessible wreck dive in U.S. waters. Numerous dive boats are available to carry divers to sites of historical shipwrecks, military aircraft, army tanks, and a wide range of reefs; and the bountiful Gulf of Mexico waters are teeming with fish to satisfy the spearfishing enthusiast. Beautiful rivers and streams fed by natural crystal clear springs flow through the rolling hills. The inland areas are home to some of the most well known spring, cavern, and cave dive sites in the state. These sites have become internationally known for training opportunities ranging from openwater classes to advanced cave diving courses. The Florida Panhandle has something to please all levels of divers.
